so here I am in Toronto..
My search for talent has taken me to a lot of places..near and far..Toronto being by far the most different. The first night we landed; it was the MMVA awards which is; the Canadian equivalent to the MTV Video awards, and got to meet with Toronto movers & shakers CP Records. CP Records artist (JRDN, Danny Fernandes, and Belly) had a combined seven nominations at the awards. During the meeting; as we (my business partner Marcello, Marzi and I ) discussed the future of the artists with CEO Tony Sal, and Belly's manager Cash, I caught wind of the FUTURE OF MUSIC. As Detroit produced the Mo-town sound which dominated the sound scape of the early 60's to the mid-70's; I see and hear a sound coming out of Toronto all it's own which is set and destined to dominate the sound scape and change how we hear music.
I personally have been taken back and floored by one artist in particular. And set to bet the bank on it that this man and his interpretation of what music should sound like is set to to change the game. Many artist have told me that given the chance they would change the game and this young man's case it isnt a matter of "IF" ...when the world hears him it is rather WHEN he will change the game, All I can say is ladies and gentlemen is that the "Weeknd" has come.

ARTIST DEVELOPMENT 101: The EPK
We've all heard the expression; "Your first impression might be your last impression" and in no situation is it more than, in the music industry. Let's face it, this is a competitive market and everyone is vying to get to the top. You have to make sure your first look is the best look. One could say " Well I don't have the same budget as a label to get that professional look" which might be true but in this day in age with the advent of technologies out there at an artist disposal this excuse is rendered pretty much obsolete. Get all your stage performances together, all your quality MASTERED songs, a couple of professional photograph, a well written bio, and a discography and put it together. What YOU feel showcases your abilities and amplified your persona put on the stage for the executives to see. Seeing as the executives can't follow you around; take them on a journey through videos and clippings and build your story and persona for them.Make them feel, see, hear and most of all believe in you. This is the music business and your job is to sell yourself and you image. Don't have your business get closed on the first day due to excuses. In the words of Mr. Sean Carter; "Grand Opening Grand Closing."

Pray for America's future
Last night was a good night. I attended the VP Records album release for Chin, over at Tammany Hall in Manhattan. It was there that I had the chance to meet Damien Marley; a very inspirational artist and individual all together. I mean he's a living legend and I'm not going to lie; I'm not an avid reggae fan, but to be in the realm of music and not know who he is and what he stands for. Well, all I can say is you need to be in a new profession if you really don't.He is to the whole culture of reggae and music on a whole as;Sigmund Freud is to psychology, Jacques Cousteau to aquatic studies and so forth. He is the pinnacle, always striving, reaching and breaking new grounds and I make this point to subsequently bring this photo to your attention. (Look Below)
Is she for real? Are we as a society for real? Is that what Dr. King died for? When Damien's father (th late Bob Marley) uttered "Sit Up Stand Up Don't Give Up The Fight"; I don't think he quite envisioned a society of uneducated folks on a whole, running around. Now I don't like to call anyone stupid because; we at large are stupider for not teaching the younger generation what's what. But on a whole, c'mon son! How you not going to know who and what Dr. King accomplished as a young black woman? Are her parents to blame for this inadequacy? Or perhaps television and other forms of media as a whole for undernousrishing this generations minds? I can't really say who is to blame but since the advent of Google no one and I do mean NO ONE should be this stupid period. Whoops! I called her stupid. Oh well f**k it- I'm stupid to for not sharing my knowledge with her so were all in a stupid circle.

Robocop? Is that you???
This right here is out of line! It seems as though Robocop is really..... Rihanna. Or vice versa or maybe they just share the same hairline? Ri-Ri needs some hair plugs for the front of her forehead. Does she tote a gun in her leg? Does she have a deep baritone voice and repeatedly says "Drop it!"? I mean look at that forehead and hairline! Its like being on the ocean and looking at the sky where does one end and the other begin? Is her hair about to tsunami? Because the ocean pulls back before it crashes the shore so maybe Ri-Ri's hair is about to surprise attack. Rihanna and Katy Perry supposedly made fun of Nicki Minaj's fake ass at an awards show earlier this year. Nicki darling any man will take fake ass over this hairline and drive in movie forehead anyday of the week. I mean hell she got the IMax theater forehead you can 3D movies on that right there. Her hairline starts damn near behind her ears! And were not going to even entertain that strong ass jaw line on her non-singing self. We need to all chip in and help Rihanna get a forehead transplant or a hairline upgrade either way it will definitely help. Ol' alien nation liver spots on her head having ass.
